The District

My good friend Katie Korb just called me. She was one of my room mates in DC (I lived there last spring before grad school) and has become one of my dear friends whom I just adore. She always knows how to make me crack up and lift my spirits. She really is a hoot. Of course talking to her and hearing about her DC adventures, really made me miss the place.
Some things I love about DC:
1. Making some very good friends Katie and Meg (who's engaged!). This is us at some Banana's place where a blind man played the piano!

2. The HISTORY, gosh there is so much history there, it was enthralling walking the halls that so many famous Americans and non-Americans have walked. Also where so many significant events occurred that have impacted our lives today!
3. Working for the BEST Congressman ever, Jo Bonner, and giving Capitol tours for his constituents. Knowing my love of history, can you imagine how much I loved giving those tours? I could have done without the crazy phone calls that sometimes led me to tears in my cubicle...except for the couple of pranks I got from Brian, which were hilarious.
4. Walking to and from work every day where I would pass the Capitol.

5. Georgetown.....as well as the places and food within it. Ahh, Georgetown Cupcake...how I miss you.
6. When it was too cold outside, which happened quite a bit, I became quite the fan of Friday Night Lights. Tim Riggins you rock! Don't worry Brian, I think you're cuter in those football pics in your room in Anniston.

7. Speaking of Brian, we had a blast when he came to see me. My favorite part of our trip was when we were waiting for the time of our Holocaust museum tickets (kind of morbid I know) and we went to the Willard Hotel and had a couple beers at Cafe Du Parc. It was so European and quaint and I just loved it. Oh I found a picture of it, but we sat inside. Here's the website in case you ever visit DC http://www.cafeduparc.com/index.html

And here's another picture of Brian and me with a man dressed up as ole Abe at the American History museum. I've never seen Brian so excited to take a picture.

8. Old Ebbit Grill. This is the oldest restaurant in DC! It has game mounted that was hunted by Roosevelt and other old presidents. Not to mention, the french fries are hard to beat!

9. Eastern Market. I looooove this place. Vintage jewelry, old maps, big hats, crepes, paintings, and more and more. My favorite brunch place is also located here, Tunnicliff's.
